LESSONS & LEISURE
This course is ideal for those who want to further their experience of English life and culture by staying with a local family
WARM, CARING FAMILIES
The English family will offer your child a warm and friendly welcome after a smooth journey. He/She will be reassured and ready to get used to the new lifestyle at his/her host family’s house. Unless you request otherwise, he will be the only student of his nationality in the family, allowing him to practise his English at all times. A maximum of one other student of a similar age may share the bedroom.
HIGH PERFORMANCE LANGUAGE TEACHING
The course starts with written and oral tests. The student then joins a class of an appropriate level, with an average of 12 students. English teachers, aware of the strengths and weaknesses, will consolidate your child’s knowledge of grammar, but will also focus heavily on the oral skills in dynamic and lively, but structured lessons that encourage the student to make progress. The teaching staff work together as a team to make sure the students get a well balanced course.
Our students are always active ; they conduct surveys, compose questionnaires and write reports. Every morning, at the start of each lesson, they talk in turn about the news, recent events and the time spent with their families. Helped by their teachers, the students apply each new grammatical structure learned, through conversations, interviews, pair work and similar exercises. In this way our methods allow the students to consolidate their knowledge of grammatical structures while vocabulary is acquired and oral expression made easier.
ACTIVITIES, SPORTS, EXCURSIONS, EVENINGS OUT...
The afternoons are reserved for activities: the castle, the caves, museums; quizzes with prizes, surveys or sports; mini golf, badminton, squash, swimming, volleyball, basketball and bowling. During a typical afternoon the student might, for example, play squash, then badminton and end up diving into the swimming pool.
Excursions to London, Brighton, Battle, Rye and Eastbourne complete the programme.
As for the evenings, these are spent, more often than not, with the host family. At least once a week an evening out is organised (cinema, bowling, disco…). The students can benefit from the evenings at home by talking to the host family. Sundays are spent with the British hosts.
